Forty years after its founding, the legendary graphic novel publishing house HUMANOIDS is reunited with its original, Mœbius-drawn logo!

Los Angeles, CA – Last Friday, February 21st, Humanoids purchased the original drawing of its very first logo at a Manhattan auction. Hand drawn by its internationally renowned co-founder, Jean “Mœbius” Giraud, some forty years ago in Paris, France, the original art had been missing ever since.

HUMANOIDS: Launched under the French name of Les Humanoïdes Associés (which roughly translates to United Humanoids) in Paris in December, 1974, the company began publishing with the magazine Métal Hurlant. The title’s numerous foreign versions (including the American, Heavy Metal) revolutionized the world of comics and pop culture forever.

Humanoids has since become one of the world’s most successful international graphic novel publishers, as well as the only European one to have successfully established itself in the US and the UK markets. The company - which relocated its French headquarters to Los Angeles, California last year - has also just opened a branch in Tokyo, Japan, where its flagship title, The Incal (written by Alexandro Jodorowsky and illustrated by Mœbius), has topped the charts of the non-Japanese comics bestselling list for the past three years. In addition to its various publishing activities, several of Humanoids’ titles - out of its vast catalog of intellectual properties - are currently being adapted for the big screen.

MŒBIUS: Jean "Mœbius" Giraud, 1938-2012, co-founder of Humanoids, is considered as one of the most important artists in the history of comics. His influences go far beyond the comic book world, with significant contributions to cinema, including such films as Alien, Tron, Willow and The Abyss, among others.

Loving Dead

Story and art by Stefano Raffaele

Alan was a simple carpenter until a freak accident ended his life. Now he is among the undead, in a world where 95% of the population are sentient zombies. While on the run from the many violent factions, both live and dead, dotting this post-apocalyptic landscape, Alan finds the girl of his dreams - the decaying, yet beautiful, Lynn. As their bodies rapidly disintegrate, Alan and Lynn make one last, desperate effort to live and love again by hunting down an experimental serum that might just save them.

Quicks facts about Loving Dead:

• Stefano Raffaele (Pandemonium), employs his signature macabre, yet gorgeous, style in this truly original horror tale: a zombie romance. His work has appeared in DC, Marvel and Dark Horse comics (Batman: Shadow of the Bat, X-Factor, Hellboy: Weird Tales).

• Originally released in trade paperback as Fragile in 2005, this release is presented here in a hardcover format and features an additional bonus short story

• Ideal for fans of Warm Bodies, The Returned and BBC's In The Flesh.
