The comics industry mourns the loss of an artistic giant. On April 2nd, The Metabarons co-creator and sci-fi visionary Juan Giménez passed away after an 11-day battle with Covid-19. Giménez ignited his career in the late '70s with the debut of Leo Roa before contributing to Métal Hurlant, eventually embarking on a decade-long journey with Alejandro Jodorowsky for the aforementioned Metabarons. Humanoids posted its memoriam earlier today. Here are the thoughts and memories from various artists and writers.
“He was a brilliant artist and a treasure of South America and to all the illustration world” — Jill Thompson via Facebook
“He did beautiful elaborate and decorative work that was the envy of many, including me. Never met him, but I didn't have to. His influence touched my work and still remains, hidden away here and there.” — Walter Simonson via Facebook
