The two things you can always count on in life: Death and Taxes. While we will always pay taxes, sometimes death isn't always the end. Back in 1968 there was very little undead-related pop culture until George A. Romero popularized zombies in Night of the Living Dead. Fast forward to today and The Walking Dead is one of the most popular television shows, Shaun of the Dead is one of the most beloved "Rom Zom Coms," plus there's a host of video games, comics, movies — and more TV shows, like iZombie — along with over 25 follow-ups and spin-offs from Romero's original film.

We handle death usually in one of two ways: horror, as Night of the Living Dead embodied, and comedy. The Zombies That Ate the World takes the latter route, portraying a world where zombies are quite the norm. Blending classic horror elements wrapped up in the guise of comedy allows unique stories to be told, and even more interesting characters to shine. Karl Neard isn't your typical hero. Often dorky, clumsy, and even scared, Karl is a "zombie pest controller" who sets up shop to round-up annoying zombies that until recently, were perfectly calm members of the undead society.

Book 1: Bring Me Back My Head introduced us to Karl, his sister Maggie, and their friend Freddy, as they set up their "zombie catcher" services. Jerry Frissen does a bang up job creating a world based on a familiar premise, but turned on its head. Much like he did with the Lucha Libre series, The Zombies That Ate the World blends fantastical elements with the mundane, making readers laugh at things they otherwise normally wouldn't, or probably shouldn't.

The Zombies that Ate the World: Book 3: Houston, We Have a Problem shuffles into stores on April 29, 2015. This volume concludes the hysterically horrific series created by Jerry Frissen. And while this may be finale of the series, can anything undead ever truly be "the end"?

Fantasy is undoubtedly one of the most popular genres in the entire world. Practically every culture has some form of fantastical literature littered throughout. Fantasy is deeply rooted in our imaginations, allowing us to dream of impossible things set in far away lands, featuring magic and the supernatural. Fantasy frees us to explore the worlds inside us. After working a long day in the office, who wouldn't want to fly through the mountains on the back of a giant dragon while casting spells?

Graphic novels allow us to experience Fantasy in a unique way that blends our imaginations with the appreciation of art. Being able to actually see someone else's internal visualisations vividly brought to life offers a glimpse into the creator's mind. Sometimes it isn't even the artist's mind we are glimpsing, but the author's. Comic artists are able to skillfully weave the visual worlds of their own imagination together narrative scripts they are given, and we at Humanoids have always prided ourselves on bringing you some of the most fantastic graphic novels possible. The following column is written by Humanoids UK liaison and known counter-culture expert, Tim Pilcher, as he writes about his thoughts and opinions about Humanoids in the UK.

Jodorowsky and Mœbius have always been a creative team that challenges their readers' preconceptions. In The Incal they challenged the idea of what a "hero" could be; in Madwoman of the Sacred Heart they challenged the concept of religion; and in The Eyes of the Cat they challenged the nature of horror. Following in the latter's illustrated prose format, the auteurs went on to challenge readers' ideas about sex in Angel Claws.

Following the death of her father, a middle-aged woman explores the family house, embarking on a quest for sexual identity, which is both visceral and shocking. Every form of fetish and vice is explored, from sadomasochism and coprophagia to body-piercing and transgenderism, as she journeys from one metaphorical room to another.

In many ways it's the one comic that's closest to any of Jodorowsky's earlier films like The Holy Mountain and El Topo, using hallucinatory, dream-like imagery to explore the interior landscape of the human mind.

Mœbius's artwork is some of his finest illustrative work ever, lovingly rendering tender embraces and pierced genitalia with equal care and attention. While Angel Claws is undoubtedly salacious, it's hard to call this book truly "erotic," as just as the reader is becoming aroused the next page reveals something startling and unsettling before returning to more alluring scenes. This deliberate jarring keeps the reader on tenterhooks throughout, creating an oddly unnerving mood that could be described as "Lynchian."

Oscar Wilde once said "Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power" and like most of Jodorowsky's work, this poetic book is an allegory ­– a surreal quest for internal peace, reclaiming one's personal power, and ultimately transcending to a higher state of being, free from the Earthly desires that drive us.

So if you are an adult who is stout of heart and strong of mind, check out Angel Claws and see if it challenges your preconceptions. You may find liberation where you least expect it.
